5-Year Anniversary of "MY OPINION" ... by: Ken B.

Yeah that's right, 5 YEARS!!

I've been doing my public access show, "MY OPINION" ... by: Ken B., for 5 years this month. My premiere show was actually on 3/20/01 @ 12:00 Midnight.

It's been one Hell of a ride so far. I also want to mention that I will be in the April/May edition of "Urban Literature Magazine" in about two weeks. It's a short interview that will be available in over 3000 FREE copies of the local mag in The Triad and should be in the online edition as well.

I've interviewed many local people from up-and-coming musicians to mayoral canidates to local businesspeople to local politicians. I can't say I've "done it all" or have done all that I wanted, but I'm getting there.

Why is everone doggin' Charlie Sheen?

Yes, he's had problems in the past, but being ridiculed and demonized about ASKING (And that's ALL he's done so far.) about the so-called facts about 911 is TOTAL BULLSH*T!!

It's become big news because he's a star and obviously, some people get nervous when stars express opinions that many Americans already have.

Charlie Sheen (Who is actually a "Man of Color," a Latino. His true name is Carlos Irwin Estevez.) is truly a brave man, despite his prior problems.

B-Day this week...

Yep, it's that time of year again...


Birthday Cheer and a year closer to Social Security (That is, if Social Security is still around in about 40 years.).




One of the things that I like about getting older is that you get smarter. Looking back when I was 21 is a huge difference from today. Still don't know what I'll do for my B-Day this Saturday, but I'm sure that I'll think of something.

And that it will involve alcohol...

What can be said about one of the greatest Americans that ever lived?

He revolutionized the way pictures are shot and interpreted.

He was our eyes during the "Civil Rights Movement."

He was the first Black man to direct a feature film for Hollywood, "The Learning Tree."

Though "The Learning Tree" was his first film for Hollywood, it wasn't his most famous one. What was it? Maybe you remember it?

I'll give you a hint:

Issac Hayes sang that he was a bad mother...

This was the movie that heralded the age of so-called " blaxploitation " films, which gave us such classics as "The Mack," "Superfly," and "Cleopatra Jones."



So many things can be written about this great man that if I tried to write ALL OF IT on this blog, I would be up all night, to say the least.

There's been alot of talking and trashing going on lately in Greensboro.

I've been reading the flack on "The Wray Affair" in various local papers, including Yes Weekly.

A couple of weeks ago, a "Yes Weekly" writer by the name of Jordan Green wrote an article on the "White Takeover" of the Greensboro Police Department. From what I read the next week in their "Letters to the Editor" section, they received a TREMENDOUS amount of flack on the article.

I guess they got so much flack about it that they deleted it from their website. I can't find it.

One of the major beefs on the article concerned the website of a Sgt. Ramon Bell of The GPD. I guess Jordan said something about the site and many readers who wrote in took issue with it. Apparently, Ramon expressed his so-called "Southern Heritage" (i.e. Rebel Flag, Confederacy, etc...) and his family history on a section of his site.

I don't find this racist (It is his family's and many others history "Down South."), but I don't like his inaccurate (To say the least.) portrayal of slavery.


First of all, YES, there were SOME (Not all as Sgt. Bell likes to think.) African kings and chieftans that profited off The European Slave Trade.

AT FIRST.

Slavery was a different institution in Africa, back in the day (Not to say that it was a benign system. It wasn't. Slaves were taken as a "reward of war.").

It wasn't based on WHITE SUPREMACY or BLACK INFERIORITY!!!

It seems that people like Sgt. Bell ALWAYS bring up the fact that a few Africans, or as I like to call them, the earliest "Uncle Toms", participated in slavery.

This DOES NOT absolve the Whites who got into it! Nor does it make it OK for slavery to florish in America for hundreds of years.

Those that think that are IGNORANT ASSH#LES!

And that's putting it nicely.

Keep up the writing, Jordan.

Let the haters hate and let the TRUTH find FREEDOM!
